'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the thrilling closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses amid the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a speculative shot from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess immediately slammed home the deflection before sprinting toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with fans mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result sealed an unbelievable recovery given Swansea had been behind 2-0 deep into the latter period. During the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win booked a upcoming game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that range," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right flank after they changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the City players who complimented the way his former team attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the basics and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they know how to manage and neutralize a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a tough attitude and attention just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Orient and has rapidly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that growth for both domestically and internationally, shining for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including both legs fixtures against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

It has been a remarkable path for the youngster from the local area in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, Stuart, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

The player's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they featured on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was shut owing to conditions of freezing cold. "It was a long trip and it was freezing," he recalls, smiling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I realized I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a minibus driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include a teammate, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the guys but I'm aiming to be the next one out of the minibus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with fans on London's Central line after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
